Bosdet Foundation

The Bosdet Foundation was established on the 13th January, 1989 when Mr. George Bisson very generously handed over Quennevais camp site and the surrounding properties to a Foundation that he established.

 Mr George Bisson who died a few years ago at 92 set up the Foundation working with his lawyer Advocate Peter Bertram to write up the Articles of the Foundation. His principle aims were to help people in need in Jersey and to develop Les Ormes as a leisure facility.

The objectives of the Foundation can be summarised:

  1. To provide Assistance to local people; this includes smaller items such as household items, furniture, shoes to larger capital sums such as minibuses, and includes the provision of loans.
  2. To provide support for project appeals for clubs, associations, or groups where it is felt it will benefit significant numbers.
  3. To hold, administer and manage Les Ormes for sporting, leisure and recreational and conservation activities.
  4. To maintain the Foundation properties as a source of rental income to then support the charitable causes.  

The members of the Foundation;

  1. Currently consists of eight members: Advocate Peter Bertram (Chairman), Caroline Clarke, Paul Labesse , Roger Trower, Advocate Antony Robinson, Kevin keen, Dr Ben Rogers and Carlo Riva. All the members have specific skills and experience that contribute to the property, leisure and charitable functions of the Foundation. The members do not receive any renumeration or benefits in kind though they are able to charge for any professional services. Mike Graham mike@lesormes.je is the General Manager reporting to the Foundation.
  2. The Bosdet Foundation Property Group is responsible for developing and maintaining the property portfolio that includes the Les Ormes estate and several houses in St Brelade. Recently this has seen many properties sold with significant self catering developments at Les Ormes and La Pulente to give a better return. The members of the property group are Peter Bertram, Paul Labesse, Roger Trower, Carlo Riva, & Mike Graham.
  3. The Charity Sub Group is responsible for giving out funds generated by Les Ormes and the properties to groups and individuals in Jersey . In 2010 a budget of £200,000 has been agreed; this will rise by £50k per year for the next few years benefiting from the profits of the self catering units. This is led by Mrs Caroline Clarke with Peter Bertram, Antony Robinson, Ben Rogers and Mike Graham.
  4. The Quennevais Limited Board is responsible for running the Les Ormes business. The Managing Director is Mike Graham supported by Bosdet members Peter Bertram (Chariman), Kevin Keen (Treasurer), & Roger Trower (Secretary). The operational team includes Matt Harris (GM Sport), David Schofield (GM Hospitality) Barbara Campbell (Finance Manager) Nicola Masters (Customer Service Manager), & Brian Hansen (Retail Manager).
